Niklas

US Trader (Former Trader Trainee)

"We recognize each other’s hard work, and everyone is encouraged to contribute in the sense that it is always the best argument that wins, independently of your position within the company. That is what I think makes a winning culture"

Niklas started as an Intern at Lind Capital in autumn 2015 and continued working in the company afterwards as Assistant Analyst for Analysis. From September 2016, he took over yet another position at Lind Capital; this time as Trader Trainee. Today, Niklas is employed as Trader at Lind Capital. Niklas studied finance at Aarhus BSS.

My time as an Intern at Lind Capital

When I started as an Intern for Analysis at Lind Capital, I was immediately thrown into relevant working tasks. Right from the start, I felt that I was part of the Lind Capital team on an equal footing with the rest of my colleagues, and that I was of use to the company.

Specifically, my work tasks included finding new trading possibilities through insightful analyses of the financial markets and assisting my team in developing new software solutions for internal trading and analysis systems. Although the environment is very fast-paced in the company, and in the industry in general, I was given the time to work thoroughly and really concentrate on my tasks. Additionally, my colleagues were very helpful when I needed competent feedback. At all times, I felt that it was of priority that I learned from my work experiences at Lind Capital.

Freedom with responsibility

One of the best things about being an Intern at Lind Capital is that you have a huge say in your own working procedures and tasks. You are given a lot of responsibility and are encouraged to take on complicated tasks where solutions are not always clear right from the beginning. In this way, you get valuable hands-on experience and learn a lot about the entire trading industry.

From Intern to Trader Trainee

At the end of my internship, I was offered to stay in the company as Assistant Analyst for Analysis. I saw this job offer as a great opportunity to continue developing my practical working competences concurrently with finishing my master’s degree.

In the end of my studies, I talked to my team leader at Lind Capital about the possibilities for staying in the company full-time when I graduated. It was an open and honest dialogue where we talked about both my work preferences and the company’s needs in terms of future employees. Fortunately, there was a match, and we agreed that I would start as Trader Trainee in the company as of September 2016.

A Winning Culture

It made a lot of sense for me to take on the position as Trader Trainee at Lind Capital, both because I have developed a great interest for trading through my experiences as part of the Analysis team, but also because I see myself fit in the ambitious and innovative environment of the company. What I really like about the environment is that people get praised when they have done a good job. We recognize each other’s hard work, and everyone is encouraged to contribute in the sense that it is always the best argument that wins, independently of your position within the company. That is what I think makes a winning culture.
